Graduate Nurse Student:
OSHA Announces 2009 Graduate Nurse Internship

Dear Graduate Nurse Student:

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announces the opening of the solicitation period for the 2009 OSHA Graduate Nurse Internship. If you are a registered nurse interested in working at OSHA’s National Office in Washington, DC on current occupational safety and health issues, please consider this unique opportunity. Historically, a stipend has been provided to candidates selected for this program at the hourly rate for a GS 11, step1 staff position.

This experience is open to all registered professional nurses pursuing a graduate degree in occupational health or related fields. Each intern is given a project specifically designed to fully use their knowledge, skills and abilities. These projects blend current OSHA issues and initiatives with the theoretical bases of your academic study into a practical occupational safety and health experience at the national level.

Enclosed are several Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) concerning the OSHA Graduate Nurse Internship. If after reading the FAQs you have further questions, feel free to contact Robert Nester, PhD, in the Office of Occupational Health Nursing (202-693-2120).

We are delighted to offer you this educational partnership. We encourage you to consider the value of the OSHA Graduate Nurse Internship as part of your professional development. Applications are now being accepted.

Sincerely,

Thomas Galassi
Director
Directorate of Technical Support and Emergency Management
