On November 14, 2005, OSHA and ACC formed an Alliance to provide OSHA, the ACC's
members and ACC's Responsible Care® Partners, and others with information,
guidance, and access to training resources to help them protect employees'
health and safety.
Because the OSHA and ACC Alliance has achieved its goals, the organizations
agreed to conclude the Alliance as of November 14, 2008. A number of successes
resulted from the agreement including:
- ACC members worked with OSHA to develop three products related to ACC’s
Responsible Care Management System® (RCMS) and OSHA’s Voluntary Protection
Programs (VPP): A Gap Analysis Worksheet for Facilities Currently RCMS, But
Seeking VPP; A Gap Analysis Worksheet for Facilities Currently Participating
in VPP, but seeking RCMS; and ACC Responsible Care®/OSHA VPP Alliance
Frequently Asked Questions.
- On August 28, 2007, Tomaysa Sterling, ACC; Jack Cherry, Rohm and Haas (ACC
member company), Brad Verrico, Verrico Associates; and Laura Seeman, Team
Leader, Office of Partnerships and Recognition, Directorate of Cooperative and
State Programs, USDOL-OSHA participated in a joint workshop that highlighted
the value of participation in the programs informed the participants about
programs' similarities at the 23rd Annual National Voluntary Protection
Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA) Conference in Washington, DC.
- On August 14, 2007, Tomaysa Sterling, ACC, presented information on the
OSHA and ACC Alliance at the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials
Managers' Meeting 2007 National Conference in Arlington, Virginia.
OSHA and ACC will continue to work together through other avenues such as the
OSHA and Process Safety Alliance.
