![]() Don Wright, MD, MPHDirector Office of Occupational Medicine Directorate of Science, Technology and Medicine Since early 2003, Don Wright, MD, MPH has served as Director of the Office of Occupational Medicine for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Office of Occupational Medicine is within the Directorate of Science, Technology, and Medicine. During his fifteen years in the private sector, Dr. Wright gained a notable background in the field of occupational safety and health. Prior to joining OSHA, Dr. Wright had an extensive occupational medicine clinical and consulting practice in Central Texas. Dr. Wright received his undergraduate education at Texas Tech University. He undertook his medical studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Following medical school graduation, Dr. Wright pursued postgraduate training in Family Medicine through Baylor College of Medicine. Upon successful completion of his post graduate training, Dr. Wright developed a keen interest in Occupational Health and ultimately received a Masters of Public Health degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is board certified in both Family Medicine and Occupational Medicine. For fifteen years, Dr. Wright provided clinical and consulting Occupational Medicine services to industries in Central Texas. Prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses has been a lifelong passion for Dr. Wright which prompted him to join the OSHA organization. He is currently a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees. OSHA's role is to assure the safety and health of America's working men and women by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual process improvement in workplace safety and health.
